Growl notification script for Mac OS Mail

Posted on 08/29/09, in Tech, by Mike

After I created a script to enable Growl notifications for Entourage, complete with subject, from and the first part of the email, I have adapted the script to work with Mail. The reason is that I have dumped Entourage – in fact, I have dumped Office and gone with Mail + iWork, now that Snow Leopard’s Mail supports Exchange.

Below are a couple of samples of the notifications shown from my script, which you can download here. Enjoy!

Hi Mike,

thanks so much for your great mail script. I managed to edit it to show more than 80 characters. But I cant manage to change the following 2 things that are really important to me:

How can I change the background to more black ?

-How can I make it stay longer on the screen ? It goes away way too fast.

Thanks so much for your help.

Thanks for the script.

I’m looking for one I can adapt to notify me that a rule has moved a message to a specific folder. Something I got used to on Outlook but Mail.app doesn’t do.
